Jess Billson joined Tudor Grange Samworth Academy in 2022 as the Attendance and Welfare Officer for all EYFS, primary and secondary phases. Whilst in this role she completed the Designated Safeguarding Lead training and became a part of the safeguarding team alongside the attendance role. In 2024 Jess moved into the role of Trust Attendance and Welfare Officer following her success of offering advice and guidance to other schools in the Trust. Jess has recently completed a degree in Sociology with Criminology with the Open University alongside her employment.

As Trust Attendance and Welfare Officer, Jess is responsible for overseeing attendance and welfare procedures across all Tudor Grange schools whilst ensuring that schools are following the new Department for Education guidance “Working together to improve school attendance”.

She provides advice and feedback to administrators, attendance welfare officers, attendance leads and principals on following the Tudor Grange attendance escalation process ensuring appropriate actions are taking place, whilst overseeing that reporting and filing of information is done efficiently.

Jess is the contact for any queries individual schools may have regarding attendance in general or for specific cases, with the aim of improving overall outcomes for all children through promoting good school attendance. She has kept her Designated Safeguarding Lead training up to date as this often goes hand in hand with the advice and guidance given to schools regarding attendance and welfare matters.
