An exciting end-of-term project led to our pupils reaching for the stars as they enjoyed an unforgettable creative challenge. They eagerly took part in a unique whole-school art endeavour called “Star the Car”.

The Volkswagon, kindly donated by local business Worcester Metals, provided the pupils with a different kind of blank canvas for their art lesson. It gave them a totally unexpected opportunity to transform a real car into a spectacular piece of artwork.

Mrs Abel said “We thought this art project needed something big and bold to base our designs on – so we chose the inspirational achievement of the Artemis II mission – NASA’s first crewed lunar mission in over 50 years. Throughout this colourful, energetic day, the children demonstrated fantastic teamwork, creativity and communication skills. Working together on such a large-scale project encouraged everyone to share ideas and feedback, support one another and take pride in contributing to a shared goal.

“The finished artwork has resulted in a beautiful car sculpture and represents a huge source of pride for everyone involved. Our pupils were amazed at how their individual ideas combined to create one incredible final piece. To mark the occasion, all of the young artists signed the car at the end of the day – because, of course, every masterpiece deserves a signature”.

The celebrations concluded with a well-deserved end-of-term ice lolly, giving everyone chance to reflect on their work and celebrate a memorable day of creativity, teamwork and fun.
